Mr de' Liguori Carino is n absolutely fabulous surgeon and a really wonderful man. He treated my Dad,William ( Billy ) Mitchell for bile duct cancer. It was a real shock to learn Dad ( a strong Irishman, who has worked hard all his life ) was sick. He was very ill indeed and at the time he was 73 years old. Mr de' Ligori ( as we referred to him) took on the job of what was a gruelling but life saving operation. He took the time ( on several occasions)to meet me and my siblings with mum and Dad to explain the process, prognosis etc. He was incredibly kind to all of us. Dad trusted him totally, as did we all. The operation was a success and Dad was seen regularly by Mr de'Liguori until recently when he has been signed off, recovered! He is now 81 and has had the chance to share extra time with Mum, his children and grandchildren and we are all eternally grateful to a special man who should be held in the highest esteem by all patients and colleagues. Many, many thanks Geraldine Ryan

My husband and I were really impressed by the treatment and care which we both received at Manchester Royal Infirmary. My husband was having a splenectomy, which contained a malignant growth, so obviously we were both really frightened. He also has mental health issues which made the whole situation even more stressful. Mr De' Ligouri explained the procedure patiently and made sure that we understood what was going to happen. He respected my role as carer to my husband and made sure I had information and a named nurse that I could call if we needed any help. On the day of surgery he checked if my husband was ok, and assured him that he would be going to surgery as soon as possible. My husband's illness means that he would become more and more anxious and panic if he had to wait for a long period of time. Mr De' Ligouri came to check on my husband after surgery, later that night and was always friendly and professional. Thank you so much from both of us.

Mr D’Liguori-Carino has recently performed major surgery on me and now wish to recommend him as the finest Doctor I have ever encountered during my long and difficult fight against cancer. He performed this procedure bravely and without it I wouldn’t have had a future. From the moment I met him after an emergency admission to Manchester Royal Infirmary which was my last hope. He is kind and thoughtful and always listens to your fears and answers any questions or worries you or your family have. He is very hands on in your treatment too. I visited his clinic today in outpatients four weeks post-op and he explained everything that had and would happen in the future. Mr D’Liguori-Carino has a most wonderful Specialist Nurse who works along side of him Sharan Ingram. She is very knowledgeable and is reassuring which makes you feel very safe. She gives you her direct telephone number and tells you to contact her with any worries or queries. She is lovely, kind and compassionate. The duo work together wonderfully and I have never been in the care of a better medical team.

Well, what can I say about this great surgeon that hasn't been said already ? In March this year I had my 3rd liver resection under his supervision within 30 months and under his pre and post op care for all of them. Although the cancer re appears he keeps me in a positive frame of mind during these difficult periods. As a result, I am able to see the future in a better light and enjoy my retirement with my wife and family. Thank you so much Nicola.
